Loading & Discharging Cargo Survey

The issue of condition of cargo prior to and/or during loading or discharging has to be established in order to ascertain who has care and custody at the time of incident and ultimately the corresponding liability. Our surveyors monitor proper handling and lifting including the use of proper equipment by stevedores. Proper equipment such as moisture meters (for hygroscopic cargo), silver nitrate solution test (to indicate the presence of chloride) are used by our surveyors. With regard to steel surveys, our surveyors are thoroughly well versed with the intricacies of such surveys, following guidelines laid down by prominent authorities such as North of England P & I Clubs’s guide on Steel Preshipment surveys and Capt. A Sparks’ Steel Carriage by Sea. General hatch cover inspections to ensure vessel’s Cargoworthiness are included in such surveys.
